Google Self-driving Car Collides With Bus in California

Google Self-driving Car Collides With Bus in California

Enterprise & IT Feb 29,2016 0

A Google's self-driving car struck a public bus on a city street, in what appears to be the first accident caused by Google's futuristic vehicles. The collision occurred on Valentine's Day and Google reported it to California's Department of Motor Vehicles in an accident report that the agency posted Monday.

Both vehicles were rolling at low speeds so no one was injured.

Google said that its Lexus RX450h car was trying to get around some sandbags on a street in Mountain View, California, when its left front struck the right side of the bus.

The car's test driver did not have control when the collision happened, according to Google's February report.

The company acknowledges that it's partly at fault for what happened. In the wake of the crash, it has already tweaked its software to accept that buses are "less likely to yield" and prevent issues like this in the future.
