LaCie Big Disk Extreme Qualified for Use with Pinnacle Systems CinιWave

LaCie Big Disk Extreme Qualified for Use with Pinnacle Systems CinιWave

Enterprise & IT Jul 26,2004 0

LaCie, a leading producer of storage and display devices for the content development industry, announces that Pinnacle Systems has qualified the Big Disk Extreme and FireWire 800 PCI Card for use with Pinnacle's CinιWave RT and CinιWave RT Pro real-time editing systems.

Pinnacle Systems tested and approved the use of two striped 500GB LaCie Big Disk Extreme drives with CinιWave RT and CinιWave RT Pro. By connecting one unit to the Apple Power Mac's built-in FireWire port and the other to a LaCie FireWire 800 PCI Card, video professionals can seamlessly edit high-quality uncompressed video and take advantage of the impressive range of real-time effects offered by CinιWave. Even more real-time effects (more streams, time remapping and RGBA composites) and HD playback can be achieved by striping four units (two per channel).

"Pinnacle Systems CinιWave is a top choice for today's video professionals," says Pinnacle Systems Senior Product Manager Andrew Baum, "and when combined with LaCie's Big Disk Extreme, this solution delivers exceptional digital video editing and storage capabilities. Big Disk Extreme has been thoroughly tested and found to deliver the high performance necessary to take advantage of the awesome power of CinιWave RT and RT Pro."

"We are excited to deliver the first FireWire solution officially certified for use with Pinnacle's CinιWave," says Mat Gasquy, LaCie VP of Sales. "The Big Disk Extreme is the first FireWire 800 solution designed to support professional multi-stream uncompressed video. Since its introduction in January, feedback from our customers has been fantastic."

LaCie introduced the Big Disk Extreme in January 2004 at Macworld Expo San Francisco. Drives include all cables needed for use with the dual FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and iLink/DV ports-ideal for professionals working with audio and video on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Suggested retail prices for Big Disk Extremes are: 320GB/$369, 400GB/$449, 500GB/$549. LaCie FireWire 800 PCI Cards include three FireWire 800 ports and retail at $69. Both products are available through LaCie authorized resellers including the Apple Store.
