LG Display Showcases Flexible, Transparent 77-inch OLED
LG Display has developed the first 77-inch flexible and transparent OLED display, under a project jointly carried out with South Korea's industry ministry.
The OLED display boasts an Ultra HD (UHD) resolution of 3840x2160 with 40% transparency and 80 radius of curvature. The company says that the new panel can be rolled up to a radius of 80mm without affecting the function of the display.
LG Display unveiled an 18-inch flexible OLED panel with 30 radius of curvature that is rollable and an 18-inch transparent OLED panel in 2014, and a 55-inch transparent OLED panel with 40 percent transparency in 2016.
The development of the new display is part of a greater government plan to secure expertise in ultra HD-level transparent flexible panels that can bolster South Korea's competitiveness in the area as well as build a future growth engine.
The company said its latest breakthrough is expected to help LG Display expand its presence in the global market.
