MathSoft Engineering & Education Inc. licenses 'SafeDisc HD'

MathSoft Engineering & Education Inc. licenses 'SafeDisc HD'

General Interest Dec 10,2001 0

Macrovision Corporation announced today that MathSoft Engineering & Education has signed a license agreement to use SafeDisc HD to protect MathSoft's application software CD-ROMs sold through retail and reseller channels worldwide. SafeDisc HD is Macrovision's second-generation copy protection product designed for the interactive, application, and computer based training (CBT) software markets. It is a highly secure, software-based protection solution that combines anti-copy, encryption and anti-hacking technologies to control installation and subsequent execution of software. MathSoft is using the periodic checking feature of SafeDisc. This feature does not require the CD-ROM to be in the drive each time the application is launched. The publisher can specify the time duration for periodic re-authentication of the original CD-ROM according to a schedule that is convenient for users.

SafeDisc HD provides persistent protection while enabling today's mobile computing environment, in which the user may be running multiple application programs from the desktop/laptop at the same time without a CD drive present to authenticate media. Another important feature of SafeDisc HD is its multi-level anti-hacking technology that prevents the compromise of its security features.
