Mitsubishi Chemicals Releases 8cm DVD-R DL Media
Mitsubishi Chemicals announced today that it will start shipping the first as a 8cm DVD-R DL discs for video cameras, later this August.
The company will also ship new single-sided and double-sided 8cm DVD-R media as well as 8cm DVD-RW media at the same period.
The DVD-R for DL discs (2.6GB) are able to hold 54 min of video in SP mode. CANON's upcoming iVIS DC22 video camera supports the new media.

Furthenmore, the single-sided media feature a inkjet printable surface, and special hard-coating surface that makes it resistant to scratches and fingerprints.
Mitsubishi Chemicals is the pioneer in the development of optical media. The Japanese company released in the first 12cm DVD+R DL media in the world in 2004.
