MKM launches BIGAZO and New Cine-R discs

MKM launches BIGAZO and New Cine-R discs

Optical Storage Feb 4,2005 0

Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd. (MKM) today announced a new DVD disc series scheduled for early March launch named BIGAZO, which means "beautiful image creation" in Japanese, and New Cine-R. Estimates put 2005 DVD demand at some 25 million units (79% more than in 2004)*1. Among them, DVD-R discs with inkjet-printable labels*2 will account for more than half. "Some 70% of DVD users*2 prefer being able to create original labels," says Shigeru Tamura, MKM spokesman, "so MKM answered this consumer need by launching BIGAZO, a new DVD disc series that allows users to freely design and print their own labels."

MKM has also pursued individualistic designed labels. The CD-R Phono-R Series, for example, has labels reminiscent of analogue record platters, and DVD Series Cine-R disc labels take their motif from movie projector reels. Now, MKM altered that lineup to New Cine-R discs, which add brilliance and quality to the reel design for greater reality.

The above-mentioned DVD Series have the following features:

BIGAZO Features
A larger printable area increases artistic expression possibilities (Printable range of 22-110mm)*3
All white package design makes information (standards, etc.) easy to read and comprehend.
Two types available: all white and mixed pastel.
Newly developed dual printable layer speeds drying and ink adherence for a superior label (ki label)*4.

New Cine-R Features
The label design appears to be a real film projector reel (two kinds, a bronze type and a steel type).
New package design emphasizes the disc even more.
