New small Thermal Printer Mechanism with Cutter by Fujitsu
Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today released an ultra-compact 24V thermal printer mechanism and guillotine cutter combination that is the smallest the company offers.
The new FTP-627MCL401 measures just 21.8mm high x 81.2mm wide x 42.2mm deep and weighs 100g. It is less than one-half the overall size of its predecessor, the FTP-627MCL383, and has a 34% lower profile.
Fujitsu developed the new ultra-compact mechanism to meet the demand for smaller and lighter end products that require hard-copy output, such as those for financial transaction, ticketing, medical, test and measurement, kiosk and labeling applications. This was accomplished primarily by redesigning the cutter and using lightweight materials.
Despite its compact size, the printer still includes advanced features, such as motor reversal capabilities, user-selectable partial or full cutting via software, and a separate winder motor for journaling applications in voting and gaming machines, and POS terminals.
Fujitsu incorporated a die-cast metal frame for durability and to enhance resistance to vibration, shock and electrostatic discharge. It also enables continuous printing within an extended 0o to +50 degrees C temperature range by either radiating or dispersing heat.
The new printer features Fujitsu’s lever-activated Easy-Load Mechanism, which completely detaches the platen to allow full access to the paper path. This simplifies paper loading and reduces downtime because it eliminates the need to feed paper through the mechanism. It also reduces the likelihood of paper jams.
The printer has a print speed of 100mm (800 dot lines) per second with a print resolution of 8 dots per millimeter. The head life is 50 million pluses, or 50km of paper, and cutter life is 500,000 cuts.
Available immediately, a FTP-627MCL401 printer mechanism with cutter is priced at $58.00 in one-thousand piece quantities.
