Nokia X6 'Doesn't Come with Music' After All

Nokia X6 'Doesn't Come with Music' After All

Smartphones Jan 27,2010 0

Today sees the Nokia X6 get its very own baby brother in the form of a new 16GB model. Unlike its 32GB sibling, the 16GB version doesn't Come with Music, Nokia announced today. Nokia dropped the ailing "Comes with Music" offering from the new version of its flagship X6 music phone, hoping a one-third cheaper price tag will boost sales of the model.

Nokia tried to boost its Comes with Music service, selling the X6 model only with the music package last November. It was expected to retail for approximately EUR 450, before taxes and subsidies. Comes with Music was unveiled in late 2008 in Britain but it has lacked operator support and has gained little traction.

The new X6 model will sell for EUR 299 euros, excluding taxes and subsidies, starting this quarter. Unlike its 32GB sibling, the new phobe comes with 16GB of memory onboard, half the size of the original model, a 3.2-inch widescreen touchscreen and four new finishes: all black, all white, white with pink highlights and white with yellow highlights.

The phone is running the latest version of Symbian OS and boasts up to 18 days standby time, 11.5 hours talktime (GSM), 4.5 hours of video playback and a 35 hours of music playback.

Images are taken care of with a 5-megapixel camera sporting Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. Shooting of videos is also available and a TV-out function enables users to watch their videos on the big screen.

The new Nokia X6 is also compatible with the all-new Ovi Maps, offering free walk and drive navigation and tons of extras including Michelin and Lonely Planet guides.

Pre-loaded games include Spore by EA, Asphalt4 and DJ Mix Tour by Gameloft.
