Passing to the CrystalDiskMark software, we get more indication about the drive's performance. Note that results from different version will vary, for reference we tested all available builds:
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.4
CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2
CrystalDiskMark 7.0.0
CrystalDiskMark 8.0.1
We can see some variations to the reported numbers due to the different Reading/Write scenarios that the benchmark software tries to emulate. In most cases the 980Pro is faster (as expected due to its specifications), however the 9801TB isn't bad at all, and in RND3K Q32T1 manages to deliver high performance than the 980Pro.
With the AS SSD Benchmark the 980Pro 1TB gets high score with 7155 points vs 5180 of the 980 1TB SSD:
IOMeter also offers a good overview of the 980Pro and 980 1TB SSDs at various aspects:
The total I/Os per second are very "close"...The mixed result of workloads seems to help the 980 perform good and reaches what the 980Pro can deliver. The total Mbs per second are also similar (306.66Mbps vs 300.61 MBps), while we did notice a high difference at the max I/O response time of the 980Pro vs 980...
The 980Pro has very low max I/O latency to average 3.85ms, while the 980 1TB showed much higher response time with 25.25ms!
