Taiwan market: HP unveils two LightScribe 16x DVD Dual DL burners
Hewlett-Packard Taiwan launched two LightScribe 16x DVD Dual DL burner models, the Pavilion W1268tw and the Pavilion W1266tw, in the Taiwan market, with a tentative retail price of NT$39,800 (US$1,248) and NT$31,900 (US$1,001), respectively.
All DVD burners built into HP desktop PCs will be enabled with LightScribe technology, and LightScribe-enabled HP notebook PCs will be available in the second half of this year at the earliest, according to Dennis Chen, vice president and general manager of the Personal Systems Group of HP Taiwan.
Japan-based Mitsubishi Chemical and Taiwans largest optical-disc maker, CMC Magnetics, are producers of LightScribe-enabled DVD discs currently, with such products to be available for sale in Taiwan soon, Chen indicated. HP will license other makers of DVD discs and DVD burners to use LightScribe, Chen noted.
HP Taiwan is aiming for a 15-20% growth in local sales volume for HP PCs this year, Chen added.
