Toshiba 4K Ultra HD Laptop Retails For $1500
Toshiba today unveiled its new Satellite P55t, featuring one of the first 4K Ultra HD display in a laptop and the first to earn Technicolor Color Certification.
In addition, Toshiba announced a redesigned line of its all-purpose performance laptops - the 15.6-inch Satellite S55, desktop replacement 17.3-inch Satellite S75 and 14-inch Satellite E45.
The Satellite P55t features a 15.6-inch diagonal Ultra HD TruBrite touchscreen display that delivers a native 3840 x 2160 resolution with 282 PPI (pixels per inch). The display, with IPS technology, also allows for higher resolutions and wider viewing angles.
Each Ultra HD display is individually calibrated by Chroma Tune and is Technicolor Certified during production to realize natural color expression with an accurate color gamut.
The Satellite P55t 4K Ultra HD model includes a full version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 software, features a 4th generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, up to 16 GB of dual-channel 1600 MHz DDR3L memory and AMD Radeon R9 M265X graphics with 2 GB GDDR5 video memory. To store and share HD content, the laptop includes a 1 TB hard drive with a 3D impact sensor, four USB 3.0 ports, a UHS-II SD card slot, 802.11ac Wi-Fi to stream Ultra HD videos, an HDMI port capable of 4K output and an available built-in Blu-ray Disc Re-writable drive.
The Satellite P55t is equipped with stereo speakers by Harman Kardon complemented by audio processing by DTS. It will be available on April 22, 2014 direct from Toshiba for $1,499.99 MSRP.
Also annouincd today are 15.6-inch Satellite S55, the 17.3-inch Satellite S75 and the 14-inch Satellite E45.
The new Satellite S Series features a brushed aluminum finish and new thinner design. At less than 0.8 inch thin, the Satellite S55 is up to 29 percent thinner than the previous generation, and starts at 4.6 pounds. The larger Satellite S75 offers more screen real estate for productivity, gaming and entertainment, and is available with a built in rewriteable Blu-ray Disc drive. The Satellite E45 is also less than 0.8 inch thin and weighs 4.6 pounds.
The Satellite S55 and E45 also feature a new TruType keyboard with contoured, raised tile keys and optional LED backlighting along with a large clickpad. In addition the Satellite S55t and E45t can be configured with a 10-point touchscreen.
The Satellite S55 and E45 can be configured with an HD (1366x768) or Full HD (1920x1080) TruBrite display and the Satellite S75 can be configured with an HD+ (1600x900) or Full HD TruBrite display. All are equipped with Harman Kardon stereo speakers enhanced by DTS Sound.
The Satellite S Series and E Series laptops can be configured with 4th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 dual-core processors, up to 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz memory and up to 1TB of storage. The Satellite S55 also supports the AMD A10 Accelerated Processing Unit. For faster gameplay, the Satellite S55 and S75 can be equipped with optional AMD Radeon M7 M260 discrete graphics with 2GB of video memory.
The Satellite S Series and E Series laptops feature an HDMI port capable of 4K output in certain models and dual USB 3.0 ports, one with USB Sleep & Charge technology, which allow users to charge USB-powered electronics while the laptop is powered down.
