Acer To Showcase Showcases BYOC Devices, Wearables, All-in-one PCs at Computex 2015
Acer will showcase refreshes across its line of 1- to 100- inch devices at Computex Taipei, alongside the latest products announced at the next@acer global press conference held in New York last month. New Windows-based Products
Acer will launch new Windows notebook and desktop PCs this year at Computex, with the Aspire Switch 11 V 2-in-1 notebook, as well as new Aspire Z Series all-in-one PCs including the 23.8-inch touch-enabled Aspire Z3-710 and 19.5-inch Aspire ZC-700 – both featuring Full HD LED backlit displays. All models ship with Windows 8.1 and are supported by Acer for the free upgrade to Windows 10 when it becomes available later this summer.
The Aspire Switch 11 V 2-in-1 notebooks feature the low energy consuming Intel Core M processors under its aluminum cover, allowing up to 8 hours of battery life. The latch-less "Acer Snap Hinge 2" with magnet design and guiding plane provides effortless transition between the notebook, pad, tent, and display modes, while elevating the keyboard for comfortable typing and lowering the center of gravity to increase stability.
The Aspire Switch 11 V’s Corning Gorilla Glass 3-protected 11.6-inch Full HD panel features Zero Air Gap and IPS technology with a wide viewing angle. Acer VisionCare provides extra care for the users’ eyes, while the built-in dual front-facing speakers are enhanced by Acer TrueHarmony and Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater technology. Later this year, Acer will also release a new 10-inch model featuring the recently launched Intel Atom x5 processor.
Android Devices
Acer will also debut two new Android tablets with screen sizes of 8 and 7 inches. The new Iconia One 8 Series features the great touch and writing experience with Acer Precision Plus technology supporting control with writing instruments as fine as a pencil. The Iconia One 8 (B1-830) ships with the latest version of Android 5.1 Lollipop and a MediaTek octa-core processor. This addition to the Iconia One 8 family provides an alternative to the previously announced Iconia One 8 (B1-820) with an Intel quad-core processor.
The new 7-inch Iconia One 7 (B1-760HD) features a HD IPS display with wide viewing angles, a textile-patterned back cover that comes in a variety of colors, and is pre-loaded with the Acer Iconia Suite that offers new ways to simplify tasks with touch gestures and quick access icons.
Chrome OS
Chrome OS devices have been well received by schools and businesses for their speed and security as the OS is constantly updated from the cloud with built-in Google virus protection. At Computex Taipei, Acer will showcase the successor of its petite Chrome OS desktop, the Chromebox CXI2, refreshed with Intel Core i3 and Celeron processors, Intel HD Graphics, 16GB SSD, a maximum of 8GB dual-channel DDR3 1600MHz memory, and 802.11ac wireless and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Business users will appreciate it being Citrix Ready out of the box for desktop virtualization applications, with the TPM 1.2 secure cryptoprocessor and Kensington lock slot providing security inside-and-out.
Liquid Leap Wearable Lineup
Acer willhave on display three new members to its Liquid wearable lineup, including the Leap Active for socially active young-minded consumers, the Leap Fit for health-conscious consumers, and the Leap Curve with a curved screen for urban style-seekers.
All three models can be operated by touch screen control, and allow consumers to track daily activities and exercise, and get timely notifications when pre-set goals are met, which can encourage users to keep moving. The new version of the Leap Manager also maps out different activity indicators in an graph indicating the user’s health index.
The lightweight Leap Active comes with three interchangeable bands. It not only tracks activity during the day, but also the sleep patterns at night. The notifications feature can inform the wearer of incoming calls, text, and social messages, and meetings so they won’t miss important notices. The Leap Active can also double as a remote control for music playback on the smartphone so that the wearer can take control of their music without even touching their phone.
The Leap Fit builds on all of the features of the Leap Active, adding a heart rate sensor that can monitor the wearer’s heart rate around the clock. It also features a stress sensor that sends notifications when the stress level is high. This IPX7 certified unit is strapped to the hand by an interchangeable band with a gold, silver, or black metallic hairline finish, and provides up to five days of battery life on a single charge.
The Leap Curve delivers the complete functionality of the Leap Fit with a curved design. With different bands of premium material to match different outfits and occasions, the Leap Curve also features an array of sensors. The 1.4-inch touch display provides extra room for information to be shown, and is surrounded by a metal frame that allows the unit to rest ergonomically on the wrist.
Complete abPBX plus Communications Solution
For the first time, Acer will display the full abPBX plus communications solution, a BYOC-based multimedia private branch exchange system addressing the needs of enterprises with a series of cost reducing and performance enhancing solutions.
In addition to the previously revealed abTouchphone desktop client with touch operations, large display and real-time news and announcement relay that operates on the abPBX plus network, a new abConsole switchboard client for operators and mobile device clients will be showcased, allowing flexible deployment options in the enterprise environment.
For homes, individuals and other work environments, Acer will demonstrate the aBeing One, a development platform for IoT applications for smart living and working as well as an experimental platform for alliance members.
