Samsung Electronics will release next month the 3rd generation of ARTIK, the company's IoT (Internet of Things) platform.

Positioned to bring AI (Artificial Intelligence) capabilities to all home appliances, the 3rd generation ARTIK focuses more on secure connectivity between devices than 2nd generation of the platform, which was introduced last year, and has stronger networking capabilities.

Samsung is apply Smart functions to all of its home appliances by 2020. The new ARTIK platform will be an important element the company's IoT business.

Samsung has created a link between the Tizen OS, the ARTIK hardware platform, the global IoT standard called 'OCF', and its Smart Home Hub called 'Smart Things'. The company recently added the 'Bixby' AI voice recognition service to this group. All of these open-source platforms help Samsung continue to lead the IoT market and maximize its influence in relevant markets.

Samsung has also decided to stop producing the already available 'ARTIK 10' platform and promote the 'ARTIK 7' version instead.
