Addonics 4-Slot UDD Reads/Writes to 4 PCMCIA Hard Drives
Addonics Technologies has combined 4 full size PCMCIA slots into a mini, stylish and high performance 4-slot external reader/writer that allows users to simultaneously transfer data between any combination of the PCMCIA hard drive, ATA Flash or flash media supported.
Instead of having many card readers, graphics professionals and digital media enthusiasts can now have all their readers and PC Card hard drives consolidated in one small device with its new Addonics 4-Slot UDD.
The 4-Slot UDD adds further versatility to common flash reader/writers because it uses four independent USB connections. Users can simultaneously read/write or transfer data to as many as four PC Card hard drives or four ATA Flash, or any combination of four flash media. The transfer rate for each slot is at full USB 2.0 speeds or the latest Serial ATA (SATA) for a maximum data transfer up to 150Mbytes/sec. Users can select either a USB 2.0 or Serial ATA interface cable for the 4-slot UDD.
When used in conjunction with an Addonics SATA RAID controller, the 4-Slot UDD is also the smallest high-performance RAID system on the market. The 4-Slot UDD can be configured as a RAID 1 or RAID 0 system using two PC Card hard drives or a RAID 1+0 with 4 PC Card hard drives. Users not only have simultaneous and quick access to the most popular types of flash storage, they also have an ultra-fast and compact SATA RAID solution for back-ups and data protection.
The 4-Slot UDD can read and write up to any four combinations of the following storage media: PC Card hard drive, ATA Flash, CF-I, CF-II, Smart Memory(TM), Memory Stick(TM), Memory Stick DUO(TM), Memory Stick PRO(TM), Memory Stick PRO DUO(TM), Micro Drive(TM), Multimedia Card(TM), Secure Digital Card(TM), Mini Secure Digital Card(TM), and XD Card(TM) (small flash memory cards require optional flash adapter).
The device can be powered direct through the USB port or via the optional AC/DC power adapter. The 4-Slot UDD is also bootable from the PC Card hard drive (depending on system BIOS support). The 4-Slot UDD measures 4.63 (W) x 5.4 (D) x 4.25 (H) inches and weighs approximately 16 ounces.
The 4-Slot UDD USB 2.0 version (Model AE4UDDU, without the optional flash adapters) works under Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, Linux kernel 2.4 and higher and has a list price of $279.95. The 4-Slot UDD Serial ATA version (Model AE4UDDSA, without the optional flash adapters) works under DOS, Windows 95, NT4.0, 98SE, Me, 2000, XP and Linux Kernel 2.4 and higher with a list price of $309.95.
