Fujitsu delivers 3.5-Inch magneto-optical drive

Fujitsu delivers 3.5-Inch magneto-optical drive

General Interest Jan 6,2004 0

Fujitsu unveiled the DynaMO® 1300 Pocket Magneto-Optical (MO) drive, a compact and lightweight drive for portable data backup and file storage that competes on price and performance with comparable mobile storage devices such as removable magnetic disk and flash memory. Just half the size of its predecessor and fully powered through its Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface, the Fujitsu DynaMO 1300 Pocket provides ultra-portability and true plug-and-play functionality. The DynaMO 1300 Pocket will be unveiled and demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) January 8 – 11, 2004 in Las Vegas (Booth #20299).

Fujitsu's DynaMO 1300 Pocket offers consumers and mobile professionals an easy way to backup and safeguard important data and computer files virtually anywhere. Just 15 oz light and 23mm thin, the ultraportable, 1.3GB MO drive receives power through its Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface, and saves data on durable 3.5-inch MO disks. Costing less than a penny per megabyte, Fujitsu MO disks are enclosed in a floppy-sized cartridge and protect critical data from shock, vibration, moisture, dust and magnetic fields and have an estimated data archival life of 50 years. Additionally, the Fujitsu DynaMO 1300 Pocket drive is fully backwards compatible with earlier 640MB, 540MB, 230MB, and 128MB 3.5-inch MO disks.

The Fujitsu DynaMO 1300 Pocket is priced at $229 and includes a $30 end user rebate coupon that brings the end user price to $199. Fujitsu 1.3GB MO disks are $12 each when purchased in the 5-pack box. The DynaMO 1300 Pocket is covered under the established DynaMO "No Excuses" one-year warranty plan. The DynaMO 1300 Pocket is available immediately through Fujitsu authorized distributors and through Fujitsu's on-line store.
