GamePC reviewed Plextor 8/2/20
"..All said and done, Plextor drives are still top-performing drives, but the competition is hot on their tail. If they want to keep this market, they'll have to release newer and better drives as time dictates. Plextor doesn't seem like the company to release a new product every two weeks, but waits until the time is right. Plextor's next generation CD-recorders will definitely have to pump up speeds on standard CD-reading times and re-write times.
After burning an entire CD of data, the drive took nearly 40 minutes to format the disc again. Although it seems like a long time, the low CPU utilization of the SCSI drive allows you to continue using the system while it's writing for erasing data. Plextor is king of the hill for now, but they'll have to keep innovating new and better ways to spin a CD if they want to keep that position.." NULL
