New Philips DVD recorder includes new features for outstanding convenience
Philips introduces the DVDR80 in a new, slim design with a height of 76 mm. The DVDR80 is focused on outstanding convenience, which means recording on DVD is as easy as highlighting a program in the GUIDE Plus+ on-screen guide and pressing the record button. The Disc Manager gives an instant overview of all recorded discs in consumers' collections.
Philips' DVD recorder DVDR80 features the built-in GUIDE Plus+ on-screen TV listings guide, providing viewers with up to seven days of available TV programs on-screen. Viewers can also sort the program options by category – such as movies, sports and children's shows. Using the simple navigation buttons on the remote control viewers can record programs just by pointing to the desired program on screen and then pressing the record button -- the timer is set completely automatically and accurately for error-free recording. The GUIDE Plus+ on-screen TV guide is a subscription-free service that makes all the difficulties of video recorder programming a thing of the past, ensuring successful recordings every time, as well as providing a fast, easy and convenient way of finding out what programs are on TV.
Further increasing convenience, the DVDR80 also features Disc Manager, which makes it easy for consumers to find the recordings they are looking for.
The information is stored in the recorder itself, so there's no need for time-consuming searching through an entire collection to find a specific recorded program. Disc Manager also automatically keeps track of empty space available for making new recordings, again eliminating the need for manual searching. Even better, the DVD recorder always knows the names of TV programs, so there's no need to enter titles manually.
For even more convenient recording, the 'Fit to Space' feature allows a new recording to be matched perfectly to the available space on a disc. This uses the recorder's variable bitrate, which normally gives consumers the choice of recording modes including the option of up to 8 hours uninterrupted recording on a single DVD disc - the ideal solution for recording consumers' favorite TV programs while they are away on holiday. Fit to Space automatically adjusts the bitrate to make sure that a new recording fits exactly in the available space on a disc, eliminating the risk of just missing the end of a favourite program while using the available disc space optimally.
Among the DVDR80's many other features are up to 8 hours recording time, an i.LINK ('FireWire') connection for direct, high-quality transfer of images from consumers' digital camcorders to DVD discs, and the unique Sat Mouse that allows the DVD recorder to automatically control the satellite receiver, making unattended recordings from satellite TV possible.
Extremely high playback quality is ensured by the YPBPR Component Video output and the RGB Component Video input. All these features and more make the DVDR80 a DVD Recorder that provides a total home cinema experience without unnecessarily complexity.
