Plextor updates budget DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives
Plextor today announces two new internal ATAPI/E-IDE optical drives to update the company's product portfolio for budget/entry level users: PX-130A DVD-ROM and PX-230A CD-ReWriter.
The Plextor PX-130A, the successor to the PX-116A, is a 16x DVD-ROM drive which now has an increased CD reading speed of 50x (up from 48x). For retail buyers, it comes in a white bezel with Playback software and PlexTools Professional CD/DVD Utility software. For bulk purchasers, it is available in a black/white bezel without software.
The Plextor PX-230A, the successor to the PlexWriter 52/24/52, is a fast CD-ReWriter with an increased 32x CD-RW capability (plus 52x CD-R / CD-ROM speeds). This means that a full 650MB CD can be burnt in less than three minutes. Of particular importance to system builders and PC enthusiasts, it has been designed with a short drive length of 172.5mm (without bezel) to fit a wide range of compact PC chassis. The drive comes with a 2MB buffer and Buffer Underrun Proof technology. It has a wide CD-R and CD-RW media compatibility, supports CD Text and has easy to upgrade Firmware by FlashROM. The PX-230A comes in a black/white bezel with Nero Express CD recording software and PlexTools Professional. For bulk purchasers, it is available in a black/white bezel without software.
The PX-130A will be available from the end of February 2005 and the PX-230A from the end of March, both from the network of Plextor dealers. They are covered by Plextor's Fast Warranty Service (2-year warranty in the EU, Norway and Switzerland (Collect & Return); 1 year in other countries). This market-leading service guarantees to have a fully operational drive back to the customer within five working days - free of charge.
