Rimage announces availability of HexaLock CD-R copy protection technology for their Producer II CD publishing solutions

Rimage announces availability of HexaLock CD-R copy protection technology for their Producer II CD publishing solutions

Optical Storage May 8,2003 0

Rimage Corporation announced today the completion of its testing on a CD-R copy protection solution specially developed by HexaLock, a company specializing in the creation of copy protection and digital rights management solutions worldwide. Taking advantage of Rimage's unique anti-piracy plug-in architecture, HexaLock's solution simply "plugs" into Rimage's existing system, enabling users to create secure, copy protected CDs. Developed by Hexalock, this copy protection technology is designed for use in the Rimage Producer family of recordable publishing systems, and will prove an integral element for solutions in a variety of environments where secure, copy protected data is a necessity. "We have found the HexaLock solution fully compliant with our plug-in architecture, thus enabling our Producer Line of Products to produce either one off or multiple-copies of CDs using HexaLock's CD-RX copy protectable CD-R media," said Jim Lewis, Vice President of Marketing for Rimage. "The HexaLock plug-in gives our customers a new solution to address concerns regarding piracy and unauthorized content copying. This development has been long awaited. Combined with our Everest printing technology, new opportunities are now opened to publish commercial copy protected titles using CD-R that are the equal in every way of titles published on CD-ROM," concluded Lewis.

"When designing the HexaLock CD-RX plug-in for Rimage, we took particular care to make it fit seamlessly, and work automatically, within the Rimage Producer II product line." said John Stevens, HexaLock Vice President of Business Development. "For duplicators, this is extremely important as it not only minimizes costs, but equally important, it also minimizes the possibility of human error. HexaLock CD-RX media provides publishers with excellent resistance to copying software and advanced anti-cracking/hacking technology, while at the same time conforming to Orange Book Standards. Software developers, specialty publishers government and military service providers and virtually any user of Rimage Producer II Publishing Systems who wish to copy protect their CD-R's prove to be ideal candidates for the HexaLock plug-in."
