Roxio Popcorn Awarded Best of Show at Macworld

Roxio Popcorn Awarded Best of Show at Macworld

Optical Storage Jan 16,2005 0

Roxio has been awarded Best of Show at Macworld for Popcorn(TM), the newest addition to its Mac consumer software line. The win for Popcorn, which enables users to copy non-encrypted DVD-Video discs, marks the second consecutive year Roxio's products have taken home the coveted prize from the Macworld Conference & Expo.

In what Macworld editors describe as one of the strongest shows for new and innovative products in recent years, Popcorn was one of only 12 products recognized. In awarding Popcorn the honor, the Macworld editors assert, "Popcorn puts a friendly face on the backup of unencrypted DVDs, using Roxio's proven Toast engine and an intuitive visual interface." Continues Jim Dalrymple, editor online Macworld.com and MacCentral, "Roxio has done with Popcorn for DVD burning what it did with Toast(R) for CD burning. Popcorn is easy to use, yet powerful for the end user."

Popcorn enables consumers to back up their non-encrypted DVD-Video discs. It features flexible compression and extraction to fit video content onto a single-layer recordable DVD, while maximizing visual quality and use of disc space. Popcorn integrates Toast-burning technology to ensure superior results with legendary ease-of-use and is compatible with discs created using Apple's iDVD and DVD Studio Pro applications, as well as those recorded with set-top DVD recorders.

"We are honored to be recognized by the editors of Macworld, respected authorities on Mac products," said Dave Habiger, senior vice president and general manager of Sonic(R)'s Roxio division. "To be consistently singled out by industry press is a tremendous accomplishment that speaks volumes to the quality, reliability, and value our software delivers."

The Macworld win continues a long tradition of excellence for Roxio's Mac product line which has garnered numerous accolades from premier industry magazines including Editor's Choice from eMedia and TechEdge; top ratings from Macworld, MacHome, MacFormat, MacPower and Applelinks; and "Best of" awards from MacUser and C/NET. Most recently, Roxio's Toast with Jam(R), which last year captured Best of Show from Macworld, earned a coveted Eddy Award, which recognizes breakthrough products of 2004. In bestowing the honor, Macworld editors state simply, "Roxio's Toast with Jam(R) is the Best Way to Burn."
