Toshiba Introduces New Satellite Series Laptops, Fusion And Radius 2-In-1 PCs
Toshiba today unveiled new Satellite laptops that run Windows 10 and feature the Cortana digital assistant, along with the Fusion and Radious 2-in-1 PCs. Satellite C Series
The new line of Satellite C Series are designed for thoses seeking a solid that’s easy to use for everyday tasks like email, web browsing, online banking and shopping.
Built for Windows 10, the Satellite C Series includes Toshiba’s TruTalk dual-array microphones to enable voice apps like Cortana and Skype, plus a dedicated Cortana key for easy access to Microsoft’s personal digital assistant.
The laptops will initially ship with Windows 8.1 pre-installed and are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it becomes available on July 291.
The Satellite C series features a brushed resin black matte finish, a raised tile TruType keyboard and a slim profile measuring less than one inch thin.
It is available in 15.6-inch diagonal HD TruBrite display sizes that can also be configured with touchscreens as well as a 17.3-inch model. They are powered by a processor from Intel or AMD, offer up to 1TB of storage and up to 8GB of memory.
The available ports include USB 3.05 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, an SD card slot and a DVD SuperMulti drive, as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Satellite C Series laptops will be available for purchase on June 21, 2015 starting at $394.99 MSRP.
Satellite S Series
Toshiba also refreshed its Satellite S Series of performance laptops. The series includes two screen size options – 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch – and comes configured with the latest processors and technologies for top mobile performance.
Toshiba is offering consumers the option of a 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) IPS display, Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) or HD+ (1600x900) TruBrite multi-touch display. The laptops has also a built-in DVD SuperMulti drive and offers Toshiba's TruTalk dual-array microphones that enable voice apps like Cortana and Skype, plus a dedicated Cortana key.
The laptops also include the latest generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi, feature 5th generation Intel quad-core and dual-core processor options, up to 2TB of storage in single hard drive configuration or with a 1TB hard drive with an additional 128GB solid state drive, up to 16GB of memory and optional discrete graphics by NVIDIA. All are equipped with a high-capacity SD card slot, USB Sleep & Charge technology and an HDMI port capable of 4K output. The 15.6-inch model includes three Super Speed USB 3.0 ports5 and the 17.3-inch model includes two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports.
Built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers and DTS Sound plus exclusive Slipstream port technology in the speakers that reduces distortion, creates a more rich sound at max volume.
The Satellite S Series features a lightweight metal construction of aluminum in an enclosure that measures under one-inch thick and weighs less than five pounds. They also include a buttonless touchpad with multi-gesture control and a frameless TruType keyboard with LED-backlit contoured keys.
The new Satellite S Series laptops will be available on July 29 starting at $719.99 MSRP for the 15.6-inch model and $874.99 MSRP for the 17.3-inch model.
Satellite L Series Mainstream Laptops
Toshiba's new Satellite L Series laptops, available in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch screen sizes and built to take advantage of the key features of Windows 10.
The laptops feature an integrated HD webcam and dual-array TruTalk microphones, along with a dedicated Cortana key.
Configurations include the latest generation processors from Intel and AMD, up to 16GB of memory and up to 1TB storage, plus 802.11bgn or 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and the convenience of Bluetooth. Toshiba quotes a battery life rating of up to seven hours on the 15.6-inch model and 5 hours 45 minutes on the 17.3-inch model.
The Satellite L Series can now be configured with up to a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) IPS TruBrite display. Consumers have also the option to include a built-in DVD SuperMulti drive.
To round out the entertainment experience, Toshiba and Skullcandy, along with DTS, aligned to tune the built-in speakers to Skullcandy’s audio spec, as well as integrate a custom sound profile with optimized settings for Skullcandy headphones and earbuds.
The laptops are equipped with an HDMI output, two Super Speed USB 3.0 ports, up to two USB 2.0 ports, an SD card slot that supports cards up to 2TB and Toshiba’s USB Sleep & Charge technology, which enables the laptop to be used as a portable charging station for smartphones and MP3 players even when off.
The new 15.6-inch Satellite L Series laptops will be available on June 21 starting at $529.99 MSRP.
The new 17.3-inch Satellite L Series laptops will be available on July 29 with prices starting at $569.99 MSRP.
Satellite Fusion
Toshiba’s Satellite Fusion is a large-screen convertible PC. It features a 2-axis hinge that rotates the screen from zero to 360-degrees into five viewing modes.
The Satellite Fusion is equipped with an HD webcam and TruTalk dual-array microphones, plus a dedicated Cortana key. It ships with Windows 8.1 and is eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it becomes available on July 291.
The Satellite Fusion is powered by a 5th generation Intel Core processor, up to 12GB of RAM and up to a 1TB capacity hard drive or a 128GB solid state drive5. It features a frameless TruType LED-backlit keyboard and buttonless touchpad, all encased within a body that measures less than one-inch thick. The device is packed with a wide range of ports, including an HDMI port with 4K output, a memory card reader, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port with USB Sleep & Charge technology.
The Satellite Fusion features a 15.6-inch diagonal, TruBrite multi-touch display that can be configured with Full HD (1920x1080) resolution and IPS technology. The device also includes an audio package featuring Onkyo stereo speakers tuned by Skullcandy and audio enhancement software by DTS.
The new Satellite Fusion is now available starting at $649.99 MSRP.
Satellite Radius
Toshiba also unveiled three new 2-in-1 convertible PC designs: the 14-inch Satellite Radius 14, 15.6-inch Satellite Radius 15 and 15.6-inch Satellite Radius 15 4K Ultra HD Edition.
Satellite Radius devices deliver the full performance of a laptop plus the convenience of a tablet. A two-axis flip-and-fold hinge enables a transition into five different viewing modes-Laptop, Tablet, Tabletop, Presentation and Audience.
Toshiba was the first manufacturer to offer a consumer laptop with a 4K Ultra HD display, and now is the first to deliver a convertible laptop with the Satellite Radius 15 4K Ultra HD Edition. It supports a 3840 x 2160 resolution with 282 PPI (pixels per inch). High audio quality is ensured through built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers and DTS Sound plus exclusive Slipstream port technology in the speakers that reduces distortion.
Designed to take advantage of the new Windows 10 OS, these devices are also equipped with HD webcams and TruTalk dual-array microphones plus a dedicated Cortana key.
Powering Toshiba's new Satellite Radius 15 are 5th generation Intel Core processors. The Satellite Radius 14 is configurable with a 5th generation Intel Core processor or an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). These devices are also available with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a range of ports and extensions, including one USB 2.0 port, an SD card slot and two Super Speed USB 3.0 ports.
The Satellite Radius 14 and Satellite Radius 15 will be available for purchase on June 21 starting at $584.99 MSRP for the Satellite Radius 14 and $842.99 MSRP for the Satellite Radius 15.
