Toshiba Offers 2.5-Inch HDD In a A 3.5-Inch Frame

PC components Jun 22,2010 0

The Storage Device Division of Toshiba Europe, today announced the launch of the MBF2xxLRC, a 2.5-inch enterprise hard disk drive configured to a 3.5-inch mounting frame. Following the launch of the 600GB MBF2600RC 2.5-inch enterprise hard disk drive in February this year, the 3.5-inch sheet metal frame was developed to support the enterprise demand for easier access to stable storage solutions such as small form factor HDDs with reduced power consumption.

Toshiba has developed the 3.5-inch mounting frame to allow companies with data centre space limitations to utilise the 2.5-inch form factor, without the efforts and time constraints of infrastructure replacement and installation.

The 3.5-inch frame comes fixed with the 2.5-inch 600GB MBF2600RC, which operates at 10,025 RPM, the fastest 600GB enterprise drive on the market and the highest capacity 2.5-inch enterprise hard disk drive of its kind. It enables users to unplug their existing 3.5-inch drive and replace it quickly and easily by slotting the MBF260LRC in its place.

The MBF2xxLRC, 2.5-inch enterprise hard disk drive with 3.5-inch mounting frame is scheduled to ship to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and distributors from July 2010 and offers capacities of 300GB, 450GB and 600GB.
