Windows Mobile 6.0 Upgrade Coming to the 750

Windows Mobile 6.0 Upgrade Coming to the 750

Smartphones Mar 28,2007 0

Palm has officially confirmed a statement made earlier by one of its executives: a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade will be released for the Treo 750. In addition, company representatives at the CTIA Wireless show in Orlando stated that the operating system upgrade will be available for free. Some of the improvements in Windows Mobile 6 include the ability to display HTML-formatted email.

It will also sport improved versions of the Mobile Office applications, bringing them closer to their desktop equivalents. These will also offer support for the new file formats in Microsoft Office 2007.

In addition, Microsoft has fine tuned the look of the operating system.

Along with the other new features in Windows Mobile 6, the upgrade will bring an additional enhancement to the Treo 750: HSDPA support.

"Windows Mobile delivers to the small screen a rich and familiar experience that meets people's work and life needs while on the go ... all with a single device," said Chris Hill, group product manager, Microsoft "We are excited to work closely with Palm to offer a Windows Mobile 6 update to existing Treo 750 users so that they can take advantage of new and enhanced productivity and advanced communication capabilities."

Palm did not give a specific timetable for the release of this update, only that it will be out "later this year".
