Marvell's new 88SS1074 solid-state drive (SSD) controller deploys the company's latest NANDEdge error-correcting, low-density parity check (LDPC) technology, facilitating use of 15 nm triple-level cell (TLC) NAND flash in client and enterprise SSDs.
Marvell says that its NANDEdge advanced error correction LDPC technology provides more than three times the error correction capability compared to existing error correction technology, and is well suited for new TLC/MLC/SLC NAND flash memory up to 15 nm process node. The 88SS1074 also consumes less power than existing solutions.
The 88SS1074 is currently sampling to Marvell's customers. The SSD controller will be showcased at COMPUTEX, being held June 3-7, 2014, at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, Residence One.
Key features of Marvell's new 88SS1074 SSD controller include:
- SATA 6Gb/s
- Advanced 28 nm CMOS process
- 15 nm TLC/MLC/SLC and 3D NAND support
- Low power support with integrated DEVSLP (Device Sleep)
- ONFI 3/Toggle 2 support at 400MT/s
- Security - 256 AES encryption
