Crucial T705 2TB NVME White
1. Introduction / Retail Package
We have already tested Crucial's T705 PCIe 5.0 Gen5 NVME which promises higher reading/writing speeds than your already installed storage device. The new Crucial T705 series is built around the Micron 232-layer TLC NAND, which according to the official specs is nearly two times faster than the previous Gen4 performance SSD with sequential read speeds up to 14,500MB/s. The Crucial T705 Gen5 SSD is designed for Intel 13th Gen and AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs and PCIe 5.0 desktops and motherboards. The Crucial T705 SSD takes full advantage of Microsoft DirectStorage and GPU decompression functionality to render high-resolution textures up to 60% faster, load assets in seconds, and achieve up to 90% less CPU utilization to free up the system for multitasking purposes. According to Crucial, compared to the T700, the T705 delivers
- 18% higher sequential reads
- 8% higher sequential writes
- 4% higher random reads
- 20% higher random writes
- Firmware optimization and improvements
- Limited edition white heatsink
Crucial apart from the usual "black" version, also sells a limited edition of white T705 NVME with white heatsink, with exactly the same specifications as follows:
- Micron LPDDR4 DRAM, 1GB per 1TB of NAND flash
- Sequential reads/writes up to 14,500/12,700MB/s
- Random read/write speeds up to 1,550K/1,800K IOPs
- Nearly 2x faster than the fastest PCIe Gen4 SSDs
- Available in premium fan-less heatsink and non-heatsink options
- Spacious capacity options: 1TB, 2TB, 4TB
- Microsoft DirectStorage optimized with Phison I/O+ technology
- Works with PCIe 5.0 desktops and workstations
- Backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 and 4.0
- Built with Micron 232-layer 3D TLC NAND
- PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0
- M.2 2280, double-sided
- Phison PS5026-E26 Controller

- The Package/Overview
The Crucial T705 White Limited Edition can be found on Crucial's website. This version only ships with 2TB capacity and the price is high, reaching 669.96 Euro. Due to recent changes in the memory modules supply chain, storage prices have exploded, in any case, check at the time of the reading your local prices, hopefully, users will see lower retail prices shortly.
Inside the retail box, you won’t find much, just the NVME SSD drive and a quick printed guide. The product is inside a plastic shell that helps it survive transportation hazards.
It has all the typical dimensions for an M2 2280 NVME drive and will fit also inside a PS5
and at the back, you will find all the needed information as serial number and firmware revision. Note that the White version comes with the same firmware and only differs from the black version with an additional (A) at the end of the product ID CT2000T705SSD5A.
- Installation
Not much to be said here, just get the drive and plug it into an empty NVMe slot. In some boards you have to change Bios settings to Storage: PCIe to get the drive recognized. Before we start our tests, we can get some info for the drive via the Crucial Storage Executive software. The Crucial T705 NVME were installed and our drive had the latest firmware revision (PACR5111).
Here is what the Crucial Storage Executive Software reported over the SMART information tab
Here is more information about the drive, it runs at PCIe Gen5 and supports NVME Express 2.0 protocol. Under Windows both Black/White versions have exactly the same ID.
After formmating the 2TB NVME SSD you should expect around 1.81TB of free available space.
