New Sanyo XACTI CG9 Camcorder Shoots HD Video and 9.1-Megapixel Stills

New Sanyo XACTI CG9 Camcorder Shoots HD Video and 9.1-Megapixel Stills

Consumer Electronics Jan 7,2009 0

Sanyo debuts the Xacti CG9, an The CG9 features an advanced CMOS image sensor for capturing video and stills, and employs the latest MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video codec.

Video is recorded in the advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format encoding technology. Users can record up to one hour of video per gigabyte of available memory (TV-HQ mode) on a standard SD or SDHC memory card. SDHC cards up to a capacity of 32 gigabytes are supported.

Photos and movies are easily copied and loaded on a personal computer or uploaded and shared on the Internet for online use on blogs, video-sharing websites and personal websites.

High resolution 9.1-megapixel CMOS sensor allows movies to be recorded and played back at a smooth rate of 60 fps (TV-HR mode).

Other features include:

- Face Chaser technology recognizes and automatically focuses on up to 12 faces in each still image.

- Sequential photo setting lets you take up to 10 photos in rapid succession with a shutter speed of 5 frames per second (fps).

- The CG9 features a newly developed high-power 5x optical zoom with a bright maximum aperture of f/3.5 (wide) and f/3.7 (tele). The camera features eight groups and eleven total lenses. Combined with the 12x digital zoom, the HD700 provides up to 62.5x zooming capability.

- The Xacti CG9 features a 2.5 inch amorphous silicon TFT Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The bright display flips out from the camera and rotates to allow taking great video or still images from otherwise-difficult-to-view positions. This is especially useful when shooting in large crowds or in small rooms.

The SANYO Xacti CG9 records high-quality video and photos directly to a standard SD or SDHC Memory Card (sold separately). The camcorder can record up to one hour of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video per gigabyte of available memory (TV-HQ mode).

Each video is recorded as an individual MPEG-4 and each still as a JPEG so you can have random access allowing you to review a specific image or video quickly and easily, without waiting for tape rewinding or fast forwarding.

The SANYO Xacti CG9 is available now. The CG9 has an MSRP of $279.99 and comes in silver or black.
