Palm Centro heading to Verizon

Palm Centro heading to Verizon

Smartphones Apr 21,2008 0

It seems to be Palm's intention to get its Centro smartphone on as many wireless carriers as it can, and evidence is growing that it's about to add another to this list: Verizon. The latest leak is a set of images of this Palm OS device with Verizon's logo in it that an anonymous source gave to Engadget. These show it will apparently have a dark-blue casing. In the last few months, the Centro has launched in a range of colors from other telecoms.

This is hardly the first bit of evidence that this telecom will soon introduce this consumer-oriented smartphone; the strongest so far was an rebate form put out by Verizon itself that lists the Centro.

Still, it is not yet known exactly when this entry-level model will be available from this wireless carrier.

More About the Palm Centro

The Centro has been a success for Palm, and the company announced a few weeks ago that it had sold one-million of them since the device debuted last fall.

It is one of the smallest and lightest smartphones this company has ever offered. Nevertheless, it still includes a full QWERTY keyboard and a 320 by 320 pixel touchscreen.

Sprint's version of this device includes the 3G service EV-DO, and it's considered likely Verizon's will too.

It is 4.2 inches tall, 2.1 inches wide, and 0.73 inches thick, and weighs 4.2 ounces.

This model has a microSD card slot, Bluetooth, and a 1.3 MP camera.
