RITEK will attain 30 to 40% of market share in DVD-R in 2002
As DVD-R has already had a fixed specification, market demands are rising. RITEK's pace in developing DVD-R is accelerating. As estimated, its capacity of DVD-R can exceed 1 million pieces per month by end of 2001 and the DVD business will see significant growth in 2002. The original estimated global shipment of DVD-R is 20 to 30 million pieces in 2002; however, an European institute has estimated an increase by 100 million pieces. In 2002, RITEK will challenge 30 to 40% of market share in DVD-R.
According to RITEK, it is difficult to enter the DVD-R sector because DVD-R is a double-side optical storage media. RITEKs DVD-RAM is the first DVD-RAM that accredited by DVD Forum in Taiwan. The fact can enlarge the gap between RITEK and other smaller rivals. Besides, CD-R has the lowest storage media cost per unit. In particular, the profitability of the DVD business keeps you come back for more. RITEK will supply recordable DVD in three specifications and be engaged in a new specification - blue laser dominated Blue-DVR. Each piece of DVR has the storage capacity over 30 to 50 GB to meet the need for HDTV in future.
