Toshiba has made available the 6TB version of its MC04 Series of enterprise high-capacity HDDs is designed for bulk storage systems and servers supporting cloud-based applications. The new drive comes in a standard 3.5-inch form factor and delivers 7,200 revolutions per minute (RPM) performance, plus a a 20 percent increase over the previous generation’s 5TB capacity.

The MC04 Series is also available in 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, and 5TB capacities and supports the standard 180TB transferred per year workload rating, optimizing it for lower tier workloads in high capacity, scale-out cloud-based storage and server use cases. The entire MC04 Series of HDDs features SATA 6Gbit/s3 interface speeds and Advanced Format sector technology, enabling both higher aerial density and compatibility with legacy applications and operating environments.

The 6TB MC04 Series samples will be available in August 2015.
