USB Instant DVD Simplifies DVD Video Creation and Authoring
ADS Technologies, a leader in consumer video editing solutions, announced that it is now shipping a new real-time DVD video capture device, USB Instant DVD.
With USB Instant DVD, users can quickly and easily archive and record their home movies in full resolution DVD-quality video, then author to DVD or CD discs and share them with family and friends.
Priced at less than $250 (US), the USB device enables even inexperienced users to easily import videos from any analog source such as VHS tapes, camcorders, DVD players, laser disks, or TVs to a computer. The captured video can be edited on the PC, authored and burned to a CD or DVD recordable disk that can be played on most PCs and set top DVD players. Instant DVD utilizes hardware-based MPEG-2 compression (the same format used in DVD movies) for smooth video at full 704 X 480 NTSC (704 X 576 PAL) resolution and stereo sound. Because the MPEG-2 encoding is done on the fly, render time is eliminated and the process can be done in a relatively short amount of time.
The complete solution includes Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 for video editing. Once video is edited in this intuitive, feature-packed video editing application, it can be saved in virtually any video format: DVD, MPEG-2, MPEG-1, VCD or SVCD, or sent out back to VHS tape or camcorder.
USB Instant DVD software bundle also includes Sonic Solutions MyDVD 3.0 DVD authoring software. With MyDVD 3.0, video captured with USB Instant DVD can be authored into an interactive DVD created by dragging and dropping different types of multimedia elements into a DVD project. MyDVD includes a wide range of professionally designed styles, menu backgrounds, buttons and other features that add polish to projects. Chapter points can be added to any video, automatically or manually on-the-fly as video is being recorded. This means that DVD titles created with MyDVD include all of the navigation, buttons and menus automatically, yielding professional quality results for the home user.
