Xbox One Games Will Soon Support Spatial Sound on TVs
Xbox One games will support spatial sound for TV speakers.
Xbox audio division has already announced DTS:X support for games, and just a few weeks ago it announced the introduction of Dolby Atmos upmixing.
With the support for spatial sound, games will offer a new experience. The technology seeks to place objects within a three dimensional audio space, rather than just delivering sound effects to your speakers.
Previous to Microsoft’s latest announcement, the Xbox One’s spatial audio support only covered home theater/soundbar and headphone options. At some point in the near future, though, an option will be added to the Xbox One that designed to produce a spatial audio experience from the speakers built into your TV.
Do not expect the implementation to rival the immersive experience that spatial sound can deliver over a full multi-channel speaker system or a good set of headphones.
Microsoft hasn’t clarified when this spatial sound on TV update might roll out.
