Toshiba today unveiled the Portege Z830 and the Satellite Z830, the company's first Intel Core processor based Ultrabook devices. The company also announced a new series of USB 3.0 external hard disk drives, the new STOR.E HDD series.

Toshiba's Portege Z830 Series is the company's first Ultrabook using 2nd Generation Intel Core processors. Weighing less than 2.5 pounds and featuring a 0.63-inch (15.9 mm) profile, the Portege Z830 Series is about 20 percent lighter and 40 percent thinner than the ultraportable Portege R830 Series. These new systems start at under $1,000 MSRP and they will be available in Europe and the U.S. during the fourth quarter of 2011.



Supporting the latest 2nd generation Intel Core Processors for Ultrabook and ultra-fast DDR3 memory, the Z830 series provides the performance needed for work and entertainment plus improved power management for great battery life. The Ultrabook is also equipped with a 128GB solid state drive and features a light, yet durable magnesium alloy casing that is reinforced with an enhanced "honeycomb rib" design and new internal structures that provide shock absorption. Plus, the full-size LED backlit and spill-resistant keyboard withstands accidental fluid spills to give users enough time to shut down the laptop and protect data stored on the device.

The machines feature a versatile set of interfaces including Bluetooth, WLAN and Mobile Broadband plus a selection of full-size ports including VGA, HDMI and several USB ports, one of which is a USB 3.0 port.

The 33.8cm (13.3"), non-reflective high-definition display and powerful stereo speakers enhanced with Dolby Advanced Audio make the Z830 ideal for multimedia consumption on the go and at home.

STOR.E BASICS HDD

Toshiba also today announced a new series of USB 3.0 external hard disk drives (HDDs). The STOR.E HDD series offers two products, the STOR.E BASICS and the STOR.E CANVIO, with (500GB, 750GB, 1TB ) capacities.

Both HDDs come fully equipped with an Internal Shock Sensor and Ramp Loading Alert, which are essential features to protect data against accidental knocks whilst carried around in bags or pockets. The drives come in a range of colour options, including black, red, green, and blue .

Weighing just 150 grams (500GB and 750GB model) and 180 grams (1TB model) respectively, its sleek post-card size with plug and play functionality and a simple user interface.

BFor users with more demanding storage requirements, the STOR.E CANVIO enables the transfer of large media files at fast speeds, whilst providing peace of mind with full system backup and recovery, offering a practical way to keep large amounts of data safe.

Its pre-loaded software available on STOR.E CANVIO enables data to be backed up seamlessly, so provides additional peace of mind. The pre-installed NTI Backup Now EZ software scans your computer and recommends the best storage options. You then decide between backing up your files to the STOR.E CANVIO HDD, or to online storage in cloud, or choose both for the most comprehensive coverage.

The HDD range will be available in Europe from early forth quarter 2011 and comes with a two year warranty.
