Rimage increases their CD and DVD label printer offerings

Rimage increases their CD and DVD label printer offerings

General Interest Oct 15,2002 0

Rimage Corporation (Nasdaq:RIMG - News) announced they are now shipping two new CD/DVD label printing options--PrismPlus!, the next generation Rimage thermal CD/DVD printer, and Everest standalone, a revolutionary thermal re-transfer print technology, which was, until now, offered exclusively as an integrated part of the Rimage Producer II family of CD/DVD publishing solutions. Everest revolutionized on-demand CD and DVD labeling when it appeared on the scene a little over a year ago. With its stunning full-color, photographic-quality labels, and its highly scratch resistant finish, this thermal re-transfer print technology has been much sought after. Until now, it was available only as an integrated part of the Rimage Producer II CD/DVD publishing solutions, or as an automated printing solution. Rimage has now announced that it is offering this technology in a standalone unit.

"Everest is the only print technology that enables users to print labels, on-demand, directly to the surface of CDs and DVDs with a photographic quality that used to be possible only with expensive methods like silk-screening or off-set printing. The beauty of Everest lies in its ability to offer affordable, on-demand, high-quality CD and DVD labeling for environments that require their materials to have a visual `wow-factor.' Now, with the standalone unit, this option is available to a much broader audience, opening Everest up to environments that do not necessarily need an automated solution, but who need an affordable way to produce spectacular labels," stated Ken Klinck, Executive VP of Sales and Marketing.

PrismPlus! boasts the fastest available throughput (print rate for full coverage labels--only 7 seconds), low-cost labeling (a mere 3 cents per disc), USB connectivity, increased ribbon capacity, and a low-ribbon indicator that reminds you to change ribbon before it runs out.

"With PrismPlus! we have taken all the elements that made the original Prism such a high-demand product and heightened them, with 40% faster printing speeds and 40% more ribbon capacity than what we were shipping just a year ago - and all at the same price as the original." Said Bernie Aldrich, President/CEO of Rimage Corporation.

PrismPlus! supports USB connectivity for high throughput automation environments, and it has a feature called the Printhead Integrity Check (PIC). The PIC feature checks each individual element on the printhead before every print, assuring high quality output for unattended environments. Prism remains the fastest and lowest cost thermal CD-R/DVD-R printing solution on the market.

Both Everest and PrismPlus! are available as standalone units, automated printing solutions, or as an integrated part of a Rimage Producer II CD-R/DVD-R publisher. All these products are currently available through Rimage distribution channels.
