The SureFire Kingpin M2 gaming keyboard is a mechanical full-size wired keyboard with Red keyboard switches. Red switches are linear switches. The keyboard has dimensions 436mm x 125.7mm x 32.5mm (height including feet - L x W x H (mm), weight 1025gr, and the included cable length is 1.8m. The build material is metal (galvanized iron), while keys are made out of ABS plastic with a very small curve at them.
At the back, you can find four rubber bands to prevent the keyboard from slipping and two expandable feet for having a slight angle to your keyboard.
All the keys on this keyboard include RGB lighting and also both sides. You can order from six different languages (48718 German – QWERTZ (105 keys), 48719 US English - QWERTY (104 keys), 48720 Nordic – QWERTY (105 keys), 48721 Spanish – QWERTY (105 keys), 48722 Italian - QWERTY (105 keys) and 48723 French - AZERTY (105 keys).
The Surefire Kingpin M2 as we mentioned earlier includes Red key switches. Red switches are linear switches. This means that the keys require less force to press, but that you don't feel or hear when the key is registered. The red switch is popular with gamers because these switches respond faster and they require less force to hold down a button. Usually, red switches don't have any tactile or audible feedback, and when a keystroke is registered, you won't hear or feel it, however, the used red switches at this keyboard do make a clicky sound when typing or playing a game, so they are not silent at all. The lifetime of Keys is estimated at 50 million hits, with a response time of 1 ms, the key Travel is 4+/-0.4mm, while the key Operating Force is 50+/-10g.
Surefire has its keyboard software solution, which you can install to get the maximum performance/features of this product.
The installed software has a v2.5.0.4 revision and no newer firmware was available.
The software is pretty simple, you can set up various profiles (for example desktop, gaming, etc) and you can see the various functions either for the entire keyboard of specific keys.
Each button can have its default action or you can set other functions you might need.
Macros are present and you can set them.
Lastly, under the "Other Settings" you can
- Lock Windows Keys
- Exchange Arrow Keys (WASD will switch to Arrow Keys)
- N-Key Rollover (Switch between N-Key and 6-Key Rollover)
- Go to Windows Keyboard configuration
- Set USB report rate (1000Hz default)
