Ritek Forced to Delay Production of CD-R Discs
Taiwanese optical disc maker Ritek was forced to hold up production launch at its Kunshan factory after Chinese authorities requested to screen the CD-R discs.
The Ritek operation, known as Hutek Corp., was scheduled to begin volume production in March, but that will not be delayed to meet the government's request, according to a report in the Taiwan Economic News. The company initially plans to put out 20 millions CD-R discs monthly. That number should increase to 50 million by the end of 2002.
Ritek is the largest producer of CD-R discs in China, and is planning to further expand its presence. Hutek Corp. is located in the Kunshan Export Processing Zone of Jiangsu Province.
