3.Rioddas BT-638 (1st variation)

The Rioddas BT-638 is a well sold drive over Amazon.com with many positive feedback. This drive is being sold around the world either at ebay.com or various amazon stores. The back of the box has Shenzhen Linjie Technology Co from China listed as the manufacturer and a company called BellaCocool GmbH Company is also on the box. A quick Google search for Shenzhen Linjie Technology Co., Ltd. brings you to this page for a company that specializes in optical drives and accessories.

The drive has nothing special in design, however we liked it.

As happens with many other drives, the USB cable is placed at the bottom.

The drive is manufactured December 2014

The drive is manufactured from PLDS and came with RL61 firmware. We couldn't find any newer revision so we tested the drive with this firmware.

As was expected, despite the fact that the drive is advertised as USB3.0 (and has the corresponding cable), in reality its connected with USB2.0 (high-speed).

Using the latest EAC (Exact Audio Copy) software we are able to detect important drive features, especially concerning Audio CD Ripping. The drive does seem to support C2 error info and does Cache Audio which will result lower ripping speeds.

The drive does support C1/C2 and PIE/PIF error scanning with OptiDriveControl and other similar software.
