Using the latest OptiDriveControl v1.80 software we checked the drives abilities. The drive supports up to 24X CD-R, 8X DVD+/-R write, 6X DVD+/-R DL and 5X DVD-RAM writing speeds. The software indicates that the drive doesn't supports DVD+/-RW DL media, which is false, the drive can read and write them perfectly...

The Black Edition comes with the GP96YB70 tag, while the White edition has a different product name called GP96YW70

Using ExactAudioCopy we can see that the drive does caching and can produce Accurate Stream and report back C2 errors for accurate AudioCD ripping:

According to the NeroDiscSpeed Advanced DAE Quality Test, the drive can read CD-Text and Subchannel Data

Using the OptiDriveSpeed we can set the CD/DVD reading speed, in case we need to lower (make the drive quiter)

- Using the device/Firmware update

After we used the included USB to USB-A port we connected the device to our mainPC system. HLDS offers from its website a software to get the latest available firmware and your optical drive to be updated.

A beta firmware was send to us in order to test some additional features of the drive, but anyway users will use the tool above for their upgrades:
